Woman sues ex-hubby, Chitungwiza council

A 66-YEAR-OLD Zengeza woman has sued Chitungwiza Municipality, former Member of Parliament, Cephas Gwiyo and her ex-husband, Isaac Chamba, in a dispute over the sale of a house.

Maybe Ngwarati said the house was granted to her by the Civil Court during their divorce process.

Ngwarati went to court seeking an interdict to stop Chamba from selling the house, while the Chitungwiza Municipality is being sued for removing her name from the title deeds without informing her to benefit Gwiyo, since he had done a swap deal with Chamba.

Allegations are that Ngwarati was married to Chamba, but they divorced nine years ago and he married another woman.

Further allegations are that Chamba tried to sell the matrimonial house, which he built with Ngwarati, to Gwiyo.

‘‘l was surprised when Gwiyo offloaded sand at my house claiming to be the new owner of the house. Gwiyo said he had swapped houses with Chamba since Chamba owed him.

‘‘l then visited Chitungwiza Municipality for clarity and found out that they had removed my name from the title deeds of the house without my knowledge,” she said.

The matter is expected to be heard on February 10.
