A Harare woman has been threatening to commit suicide at her ex-lover’s house following their breakup almost a year ago.
Yvette Mhondiwa appeared at the Civil Court where she was answering to a protection order filed by her ex-boyfriend Vincent Mukucha.
Mukucha told the court that he ended his relationship with Yvette about a year ago but she is failing to accept the breakup.
“She was once my girlfriend, and we broke up about a year ago, but she is still coming to my house, and this has caused tensions between me and my wife.
“Every time she comes, she demands money and if I fail to give her any she threatens to commit suicide.
“Sometimes she sends her children to ask for some money and I can’t keep on entertaining her because we ended things a long time ago,” said Mukucha.
He added;
“My wife can’t bear this anymore and is threatening to file for divorce. I have tried to report her matter to the police a number of times but she ends up turning the police against me.
“I want her to stop coming to my house or harassing me and my family,” he said.
In response Yvette said she felt used by Mukucha after lying that he was single.
“When we were dating, he never told me that he had a wife. He took care of me and my children for the past year, and he should just continue doing that because he lied to me,” said Yvette.
Magistrate Meenal Naratom granted the application for a protection order in favour of Vincent while barring Yvette from visiting his house.
