A WOMAN has told a court in Harare that she deserved to be given a one-roomed house for all the suffering she has endured in a violent marriage for 18 years.
Julian Karota told magistrate Meenal Naratom that her ex-husband, Richard Kamwiyo, has been trying to chase her from their home.
“It’s been 18 years of marriage yet he is chasing me away without anything. He never paid lobola, we co-habited for 18 years.
“I deserve to get the one-roomed house.
“l have nowhere to stay.”
She revealed that, at times, she was forced to sleep outside the house.
“He used to make me sleep outside the house.
“I am currently staying at a small apartment with my brother and his wife.
In response, Richard told the court that his wife left her because of his ill health.
“She left me when she found out that l was of ill health. The house she is claiming, l built is on my own.
“It’s not possible for her to come back because she left me at the time l needed her the most.”
The court dismissed Julian’s request.
