Kasikai Chinyanga

The 42-year-old, also known as Veronica, was pronounced dead a short time later.

A 46-year-old man, Kasikai Chinyanga, made no plea when he appeared at Livingston Sheriff Court on Tuesday, after being charged with her murder on Monday.

‘Much loved’

In a statement released through Police Scotland, Ms Chingyanga’s family said:

“Veronica was a much loved mum, sister, niece and mother to all who will be missed dearly by many.

“We would ask that we are given privacy to come to terms with our loss at this time.”

A police spokesperson said officers would remain in the area.

They said there was no threat to the wider public.

Mr Chinyanga is scheduled to appear in court again within the next eight days.
