A HARARE woman has been granted a protection order against her friend’s ex-husband.

The order was granted by magistrate Tamara Chibindi.

Mercy Chahwanda accused Wellington Guda of insulting, and beating her up in public, when he is drunk.

Mercy told the Harare Civil Court yesterday that she is scared of Wellington and is now afraid to go out.

“I once met him drunk in the streets and he started insulting me, and he threw a brick at me, but I never said a word to him.

“On another occasion, he poured alcohol on me and threatened to kill me,” she said

Wellington didn’t deny the allegations.

He, however, accused her of being a bad friend to his ex-wife by urging her to cheat on him.

“She used to be my ex-wife’s friend and she used to come home to take her out and cheat on me.

“They took away my child. I’m hurt and that’s why I have resorted to violence when I see her.”
