Womana��s stomach gets swollen after taking poisoned isitshwala

A GOKWE woman was hospitalised after her stomach got swollen after eating poisoned food from a neighbour.

Betty Magwazaa��s stomach swelled up after eating Lucia Kahwizizia��s sorghum prepared meal in Manyika village.

Her stomach is said to now resemble that of a heavily pregnant woman.

Kahwizizi is accused of luring her neighbour into eating the poisoned isitshwala under the pretext she wanted to find out if the traditional dish made from sorghum was cooked properly.

Magwazaa��s condition vexed Gokwe District Hospital officials where she is battling for her life.

The issue came to the attention of Chief Nemangwe when Kahwizizi fingered Margaret Chirairo Mkandla, another villager, as the source of the poisoned sorghum.

Mkandla approached Chief Nemangwea��s traditional court to complain.

a�?We suspect Kahwizizi might have tampered with the food because from our investigations we gathered that her husband and child ate the same sadza/isitshwala which she wanted Magwaza to taste but were not affected,a�? said Chief Nemangwe.

The chief said for the offence of denigrating Mkandla, Kahwizizi was fined a beast adding that she was also going to be charged for causing the mysterious sickness of Magwaza.
