Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Senator Apollonia Munzverengwi has said women’s participation in the economy is playing a critical role in
achieving Vision 2030.
In her remarks during the Zimbabwe Women Agribusiness Network (ZWAN) Mashonaland East provincial launch yesterday, Minister Munzverengwi said women in agribusiness
need continued support for them to be empowered.
The launch was held at Mr and Mrs Machinga homestead in Goromonzi district.
“As we work towards Vision 2030, it is imperative that we recognise the crucial role women play in achieving this vision,” she said.
“By supporting women in agribusiness, we are not only enhancing food production but also creating jobs, reducing poverty, and fostering inclusive economic growth. ‘Zvinonzi
musha mukadzi asi tinotika nyika kusimukira ndimai” ndivo hwaro inoziva zvinoda mhuri’.
“Women are the backbone of our communities, and their empowerment is integral to our nation’s development.
“I am happy and it is heartening to see women from various districts coming together, exchanging ideas, and celebrating each other’s successes.”
She said together women were breaking barriers, challenging stereotypes, and proving that incredible things can happen when there is unity.
“As we applaud these efforts today, let us also commit to continuing this journey of empowerment. Let us advocate for policies that support women’s initiatives, invest in their
education, and create environments where they can thrive,” she said.
“Together, we can build a future where every woman has the opportunity to succeed, where they can contribute to the economy, and where their voices are heard and valued.”
ZWAN is a networking platform specially designed for women in agriculture and it aims to showcase their skills in farming while promoting women empowerment.
