Women golf team named

to be held in Nairobi, Kenya from June 21-27.

ZLGU public relations officer Evelyn Maisvoreva said they have chosen a competitive team.

Loice Chingono will be captain of the team that will be compete against several African countries in the singles and foursomes matchplay format.

“The Gilberson and Page Challenge Trophy team will be made up of eight players and the tournament will be matchplay.

“The tournament will be played in Nairobi, Kenya from 21st – 27th June 2013.

“Congratulations to all on the shortlist and other players may be added to this shortlist if the selectors see fit. The selection Committee would like all the above listed to send their scores for all medal rounds played from the beginning of January 2013 to date.

“A Division handicaps range from 13-18.

“The B Division handicaps range from 19+,” said Maisvoreva.

She was also pleased that their junior policy was working in the union’s favour as several young golfers have made it into the teams.

“It is particularly pleasing to note that Yolanda Mubaiwa, Batsirai Tilowakuti and Shamiso Makwara are products of the ZLGU Junior Golf programme and have progressed to this level of selection.

“There will be teams from South Africa, Angola, Botswana and Namibia to come and take part,” Maisvoreva said..

Junior golf product Tilowakuti will get the much-needed exposure and will remain one to look forward to after coming out on position six as an individual in the all Africa Challenge Trophy recently.

Tilowakuti is fast becoming a force to reckon with ever since she got a call to the national team.

The country’’s second ranked golfer Loice Chingono is also in the team.
