Zimbabweans living in the United Kingdom have reaffirmed their commitment to contributing to Zimbabwe’s socio-economic development, with members of the ZANU PF UK Women’s League pledging to channel their expertise, entrepreneurial skills and investment into national development initiatives.

 

The renewed commitment was evident during the recent visit to the United Kingdom by the Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Hon. Monica Mutsvangwa, who was accompanied by her husband, Hon. Christopher Mutsvangwa.

A dinner hosted in Watford in honour of the Minister brought together members of the ZANU PF UK Women’s League from diverse professional and business backgrounds.

The gathering provided an opportunity for members to engage directly with the Minister on investment opportunities and women’s economic empowerment, while reaffirming their desire to contribute meaningfully to Zimbabwe’s development.

During the event, members presented a number of business proposals for onward consideration and verification in Zimbabwe. Hon. Mutsvangwa welcomed the initiatives and assured the gathering that the proposals would receive the necessary attention as Government continues to promote women-led enterprises and strengthen the role of the Zimbabwean diaspora in national development.

The Women’s League said its members possess a wealth of knowledge, experience and skills acquired in the United Kingdom that can be harnessed to support Zimbabwe’s industrialisation, entrepreneurship and economic transformation.

“Our members are not only nurses, carers, teachers, doctors, cleaners, lawyers and academics working in the United Kingdom,” the League said in a statement.

“We are committed partners in the development of our homeland. The knowledge, experience and expertise we have gained abroad place us in a strong position to contribute towards Zimbabwe’s economic growth, investment and prosperity,” read the statement

 

The League noted that its membership includes professionals, entrepreneurs and community leaders who remain passionate about giving back to home through investment, skills transfer, mentorship and business development initiatives.

 

Members also expressed confidence that closer collaboration between Government and the Zimbabwean diaspora would create greater opportunities for investment, innovation, technology transfer, enterprise development and employment creation, ultimately contributing to the country’s Vision 2030 aspirations.

The visit by Hon. Mutsvangwa was described as an important platform for strengthening engagement between the Second Republic and the diaspora community, while encouraging greater participation by women in economic development and nation-building.

The ZANU PF UK Women’s League reaffirmed its commitment to supporting programmes that empower women, strengthen communities and contribute to sustainable national development.
