THE Zanu PF Women’s League will continue to support own empowerment programmes in line with Vision 2030.
Addressing the Women’s League members drawn from Harare Province, Secretary for External Affairs Cde Betty Kaseke said the party has lined up several empowerment projects.
“The Zanu PF Government is fostering a conducive environment for you to showcase your potential while enriching ideas and perspectives to advance the national development agenda in line with Vision 2030.
“Government, will ensure that programmes for women’s empowerment will be facilitated and supported,” said Cde Kaseke.
She said the Women’s League, as the nerve centre of the party, must continue rooting itself in the founding ideals, values and principles of the party.
Cde Kaseke highlighted that women should always avail themselves wholeheartedly to serve the nation, saying this is the cornerstone for the ongoing renewal, modernisation and growth of the party.
The league has launched several projects in Harare to promote women empowerment projects. The projects include chicken rearing, sewing and market gardening. So far more than 150 000 chicks have been distributed to women in Harare.
Cde Kaseke challenged women to take a keen interest in accelerating the successful implementation of policies, programmes and projects that help lift people out of poverty into prosperity.
She urged women to refrain from pulling each other down but instead take the lead in ensuring broad empowerment across all aspects of life.
The projects are expected to economically empower women while contributing to Zimbabwe’s socio-economic development. Zanu PF Harare Province acting chairlady Cde Babra Mwale said the meeting was meant to inform the league members about the 2025 work plan focusing on women’s empowerment.
“We have come up with a strategy whereby we relay information about women empowerment projects and the party’s expectations for this year. We are engaging in several programmes to ensure women are capacitated,” said Cde Mwale.
Turning to the cell verification exercise which is currently underway in Harare, Cde Mwale said women should be at the forefront of setting up authentic the cells.
“We want to increase the number of cells as the party is intensifying the restructuring exercise. The exercise requires us to mobilise as many members as we can,” she said.
