Women’s league kicks off

country.
All games for this coming weekend will be played tomorrow at various venues across the country.
The league is comprised of 10 teams and Harare will be represented by four teams – Mufakose Queens, Flame Lily, Cyclone Stars and Black Rhinos Queens. Bulawayo has two teams in the league – In-Line Academy and New Orleans. The other teams are Masvingo Queens, Chipembere Queens from Gweru and Cosa will from Guruve Faith Drive Queens from Mutare while.
Zifa chief executive Jonathan Mashingaidze confirmed the fixtures for this weekend yesterday in a press release. The development comes a year after the Mavis Gumbo led executive promised to revive women’s soccer through out the country.
Women football in Zimbabwe had gone into oblivion for the past years and the revival of a national league comes as a major boost for the development of the sport at national level as the local clubs will be competing in a competitive and meaningful league.
