Women’s League rallies nation to prayer

THE ZANU PF Women’s League has called upon the nation to heed President Mnangagwa’s call to join hands and pray for the nation in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

This comes as the President will today headline a National Day of prayer at State House along with different churches as the country seeks divine answers   to confront the deadly pandemic.

ZANU PF secretary for the Women’s League Cde Mabel Chinomona said the fact that most countries, including Zimbabwe, had recorded cases of the novel pandemic, means the disease does not discriminate but affects everyone regardless of beliefs or convictions.

“The recorded infections in Zimbabwe are testimony to the fact that this deadly virus knows no boundaries as it does not selectively target its victims based on binary orders of society. As such, the ZANU PF Women’s League calls upon Zimbabweans from all walks of life in general, and the women of Zimbabwe in particular to heed the call by our leader, His Excellency President Mnangagwa, and join him and the nation at large and take part in the June 15, 2020, National Day of Prayer and Fasting,” said Cde Chinomona.

The Women’s League, that has played a leading role in the fight against the global pandemic through various initiatives such as manufacturing face masks that are now compulsory to wear in public, said it will play its part to ensure that the country overcomes challenges wrought by coronavirus.

“As we commit Zimbabwe unto the Lord, we must also remember to submit the vision of peace, unity and prosperity.

“It is from this instruction of the Holy Bible that we also need to commit all the aspirations of Vision 2030 of eradicating poverty and its spiralling effects on the livelihoods of the people of Zimbabwe, especially women.

“As we join our leader in this historic National Day of Prayer and Fasting, the ZANU PF Women’s League reaffirms its commitment to playing its part in pursuit of total political and socio-economic empowerment for every woman by 2030,” said Cde Chinomona.

“As we commit Zimbabwe to the Almighty God through prayer and fasting, we stand guided by the instructive word of God in 2 Chronicles 7 verses 13 – 14,  ‘When l shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, lf My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then l will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land’, ” said Cde Chinomona.

Other world countries, including Brazil, South Africa and the United States, also seek answers to the global contagion.
