TALIA Women’s Network, in partnership with Old Mutual, has launched the Uplift Leadership Development Programme to empower and groom potential female leaders.
Talia hosted a fundraising graduation luncheon at the Newlands Golf Club, which brought women together to establish empowerment initiatives.
Founder, Saliwe Mutetwa, said the money raised from the fundraising event would be used to empower the next set of young women who are enrolled in the programme.
The initiative focuses on providing women with appropriate life skills and equips them with the necessary tools to navigate their lives.
The target demographic is women between the ages of 20 and 35 years who are assisted in establishing a sustainable career path.
“We just made US$3 500 which we will use to empower the next set of alumni we are going to take in.
“Sponsors like Old Mutual have helped us bring this initiative to life.
“Our main goal is to empower women so that they reach their full potential,” said Mutetwa.
She said some of the young women would have just come out of school and do not know what careers to pursue.
“We have rural school feeding programmes to keep the children in school.
“We are setting up nutrition guides and ensuring everyone gets a meal because we know that it’s difficult to concentrate on an empty stomach.
“We also teach our ladies entrepreneurship skills and financial literacy so that they improve their lives,” she said.
