An Australian-based women’s organisation with Zimbabwean roots is embarking on a powerful tour of Southern Africa dedicated to restoring hope, fostering mental wellness, and creating spaces for healing.

Sisters Healing Space, founded by Zimbabwe-born Nicholah Wasarirevu, will travel across Zimbabwe and South Africa this August, reconnecting with communities through trauma healing sessions, culturally grounded practices, and mental health support.

The tour will see the team visiting orphanages and community centres to assess psychosocial needs, deliver trauma-informed care, and facilitate Protective Behaviours workshops for young people and caregivers.

Nicholah Wasarirevu, Founder and CEO of Sisters Healing Space, said, this is more than a tour, but it’s a homecoming.

“I carry with me the stories of resilience, the sacred memories of our mothers, fathers, and ancestors, and the deep longing to reconnect with the soil that first carried us.

“We are returning not as tourists, but as daughters and sisters to sow seeds of restoration, to learn, to water the next generation, and to impact nations.”

According to Wasarirevu, Sisters Healing Space aims to create safe, empowering spaces where women can thrive, not just survive.

“Through purposeful, elegant events, they pro-vide opportunities for women to heal, grow, and connect, while celebrating their unique journeys.

“While women’s empowerment remains central, we also champion men’s mental health.

“In partnership with local barbershops, we will offer Mental Health First Aid training, recognising the importance of healing across genders for true community restoration.

“From Australia to Canada, and now home to Southern Africa, this is a faith-led mission of healing, purpose, and restoration.

“Each visit is a step toward intergenerational healing, empowering women, supporting men’s mental health, and creating communities where everyone can thrive,” she said.

The organisation’s administrator, Anesu Ruvando, said, as part of the tour, Sisters Healing Space will host its inaugural Zimbabwe event, Sisterhood Soirée: Roots & Radiance, on August 23, an elegant gathering themed Roots & Radiance.

“The soirée will symbolise the resilience of womanhood, using pressed flowers and rich brown tones to reflect the truth that we may be pressed, but not crushed.

“It will be a celebration of connection, mental wellness, and the beauty found in every stage of growth. Together, we will flourish through authentic connections, nurture our mental health, and honour each stage of our growth,” she said.

Ruvambo further said, central to Sisters Healing Space’s philosophy is the practice of “sedere”- the Latin word for “to sit with.”

She said that, whether sitting with grief, trauma, or untold stories, the team brings compassion, cultural understanding, and skilled care to those they serve.

“Our philosophy is ‘Out of Sisters Healing Space Shall Grow Trees, Trees Healing Nations and Generations.”

“This vision reflects the organisation’s belief that the seeds planted in safe, nurturing spaces can grow into strong, resilient communities capable of healing across time and borders.

Founded in Australia, Sisters Healing Space offers workshops, seminars, and peer support circles that promote mental wellness, storytelling, and community connection.

Wasarirevu, a registered social worker and senior mental health clinician, is currently pursuing a PhD focused on decolonising mental health practices, with a particular commitment to black women and women of colour.
