SCOTTLAND wonderkid Tadiwa Chakuchichi and El-Shadi Sadomba have been drafted into the Young Warriors Under-20 side that will participate in the Africa Union Sports Council Region 5 Games.
The event is slated for next month in Namibia where it will run from July 4 to 13.
Two venues will be used in the Namibian capital, the Hage Geingob Stadium and the UNAM Stadium.
Zimbabwe will kick-start the COSAFA’s regional championships against Malawi on July 4.
They will conclude their Group A fixtures against Namibia and Angola.
Chakuchichi has shown a lot of potential in the games he has featured for Scottland.
Sadomba is the son of Dynamos legend Edward.
And, last season, he bagged a hat-trick in the COSAFA Under-17 tournament.
Tatenda Maulidi of Legends Academy is also an exciting forward who has been quietly graduating from the country’s developmental ranks.
He was tormenting defenders in the domestic Junior League with his partnership with Chakuchichi before the latter moved to Scottland.
The preparations for this competition are already underway.
Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture Minister Anselem Sanyatwe made a rallying call to the athletes.
“We are committed to supporting our athletes in this endeavour and will ensure that they have the necessary resources and encouragement to excel.
“The Government of Zimbabwe, in conjunction with the Sport and Recreation Commission and Team Zimbabwe Management, will be facilitating preparations and logistics for the teams to ensure a successful participation in Namibia.
“We believe that the experience gained from competing on such a platform will be invaluable for our young athletes, helping to propel them towards greater achievements in their sporting careers,” said Sanyatwe.
