President Mnangagwa has joined dozens of other world leaders at the opening of the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, a high-level gathering focused on reviewing progress in inclusive economic growth and the eradication of global poverty.

The summit, the first of its kind in 25 years, aims to address persistent gaps in achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Leaders are expected to formulate solutions to global challenges that hinder the economic inclusion of marginalised populations.

President Mnangagwa is scheduled to address the assembly during the opening sessions.
The conference builds upon the foundation of the 1995 Copenhagen Declaration, which established core commitments to eliminate absolute poverty, achieve full employment and decent work for all, and foster socially integrated societies based on human rights.

Today’s meetings will focus on renewing these global commitments and developing strategies to address ongoing shortcomings in these key areas of social development.
