World Wide Scholarships Academy to host Athletics Festival

Festival at the University of Zimbabwe.
The event is being showcased as a glorified practice session which will have races and coaching on site for two days.

“This is the first chance that athletes will have to give themselves a chance to train and compete against one another in a competitive fixture.

“This will be a two-day event which will have athletes from the ages of 10 years old to senior athletes participating in the event. There will be some events that are not normally run such as the 60 metres dash and the 500m dash because this is an opportunity for people to continue to work on their event preparations while being apart of the festival,” WWS Academy said in a statement yesterday.

Apart from the athletics activities, event will also include seminars on doping, proper warm-up and proper diet and goal setting.

Many dignitaries from the corporate and sporting circles have indicated that they attend this Athletics Festival  this is going to be an exciting event,” WWS said.

The festival will get underway this morning with a coaching clinic which will be followed by track and field events tomorrow.

WWS Academy said the objectives of this weekend’s event are to allow their coaches to give back to other clubs and teams in terms of coaching and sharing the information they have learnt and to give athletes a chance to train and develop in a competitive environment.

The event will also expose athletes of all ages to the right way of doing athletics while in a competitive environment.
