HUNDREDS of worshippers from across several denominations last week on Friday thronged Chisamba Grounds in Sakubva for the Mutare Worship Night which saw more several internationally-acclaimed praise and worship artistes led by South-African based gospel artiste, Takesure ‘Zamar’ Ncube, performing.

Rains that were received in the city and other suburbs that evening did not deter hundreds of people, including children, from attending the night-long event.

It was also a blissful night for the more than 26 000 worshippers from across the globe who watched the event online as it was broadcast live on Zamar’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

Church leaders, including those from apostolic sects, joined in the electrifying event.

People started thronging the venue from as early as 6pm after they were wooed by a booming Public Address (PA) and the beaming stage lighting that illuminated the venue, giving an exciting visual direction and shape.

Several performers, the likes of Pastor Josh Kayz, Blessing Jeduthun, Minister Ellard, Kuda Mandizvidza, Nyasha Mutonhori and Prince Jacha took turns to bless worshippers with slow and melodic, as well as fast and rhythmic chords from 7pm.

Pastor Tinashe, who was one of the main performers, performed sing-along songs such as Maitadza Here, Namabvi, Ndadhiniwa and Alpha and Omega.

When Zamar came on stage, he did not disappoint.

He crooned some of his popular songs from his rich discography, including Prayerful Zimbabwe, Agere Pachigaro, Burutsai Mweya Wenyu and Kuregerera In Advance, among others.

The event curtained off at 5.10am on Saturday morning.

Posted Zamar on his Facebook Page: “We want to express our gratitude to God for giving us the opportunity to be part of what He is doing in Mutare and ask that He always stay at the centre of all the revival sessions we take part in.

“Thank you so much the people of Mutare and those who came from other cities.

“We were deeply moved by your courage to brave the rains. May God richly bless you and may God Himself revive you.

“Mutare pastors, church leaders, and the EFZ body have our profound gratitude. I can’t express enough gratitude to our incredible fellow worshipers, Mutare will never be the same.

“To the Worship Addicts team, see what the Lord has done for us.”

Murigo, who was one of the organisers, told Weekender Entertainment that more Worship Nights are lined up for Mutare.

He said they were pleased by the huge attendance.

“The worship night was really awesome. People turned up in their numbers and the presence of God manifested in abundance. We really didn’t expect people to come out in such large numbers. It was a pleasant surprise.

“The show seek to win lost souls, revive the church and bring unity among different pastors and denominations.

“It was an honour to minister in my home ground with my fellow worshippers and I believe this will also inspire many local artistes,” he said.
