ZVISHAVANE-BASED praise and worship singer, Attalia Nsingo, has collaborated with Admire “Chief Hwenje” Shumba on her sixth album, titled “Ndinosimuka Chete.”

After years of recording and performing at church conferences, Minister Attalia — popularly known in praise and worship circles — was thrilled to successfully launch the album on local radio stations, and received fantastic feedback from listeners.

To further affirm her artistic dominance, she teamed up with Chief Hwenje on the track “Pfugama Unamate,” which preaches the eternal gospel of having faith in God.

Known for his jiti songs, Chief Hwenje is equally good as a gospel musician.

“I have always wanted to collaborate with Chief Hwenje,” she shared.

“Though he is a busy man, we know each other well since we come from the same area.

“The song was recorded at Young Legends Studio in Chivi, under the expert eye of producer King Rhesto.

“I recorded my vocals first, and he came in later to add his part. I was surprised by how well it turned out, even though we recorded our segments on separate days,” she recalled.

Minister Attalia was eager to engage Chief Hwenje for more projects.

“I won’t hesitate to reach out to him if another opportunity arises,” she stated.

In addition to the title track “Pfugama Unamate,” her new album features five other spiritually uplifting songs: “Nyika Nekuzara Kwayo,” “Handitye Bakatwa,” “Tose Tichafa,” “Batsirai Mweya Wangu,” and “Ndinosimuka Chete.”

Outlining her vision, the talented composer shared: “My goal as a musician and minister of the gospel is to reach as many people as possible, spreading the word of God through music.

“I pray that God grants me my own musical instruments so I can perform live shows and crusades more easily. My role models in music are the Charambas and Shingisai Suluma.”

Minister Attalia also reflected on the challenges she faced as a beginner.

“I encountered financial difficulties during recording and video shoots. At one point, I nearly quit music due to these challenges, but I’m grateful for the encouragement I received from great men of God and fans across the nation.”

She emphasised, “I have learnt that gospel music is both a ministry and an industry.”

Expressing gratitude, she praised the community of Zvishavane for their support.

“I can’t thank God enough for how the people of Zvishavane have embraced me as both a minister and a musician. I receive invitations to minister at various churches and events.”

As a multitasking woman of God, Minister Attalia advises her fellow ministers to be steadfast and resolute: “I tell my fellow ministers that while things might seem difficult, don’t quit because of challenges.

Be prayerful if you are a gospel musician.

“Remember that Lucifer was a great singer, and he still is, so stay focused.

“Criticism is part of the journey, but use it to your advantage. I also encourage my fellow Zimbabweans to support their own.”

She added:

“Being a minister and a musician is my lifestyle, not a hobby.

“Therefore, I don’t face many challenges when it comes to music and ministering. I ensure that my family has their time together, and my husband and children are supportive of everything I do.”

Blessed with a powerful voice and songwriting technique, Minister Attalia is destined for greatness if she continues to commit herself to her work.

Originally from Zvishavane and the sixth child in a family of eight, Minister Attalia grew up in the rural areas of Msipani, where she completed her primary and secondary education. A mother of four, pastor, musician and author, she is married to Allen Parehwa, and they reside in Zvishavane.
