YADAH coach Ikabort Masocha could not believe that his side lost 2-0 to Highlanders in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Matchday 10 at the Heart Stadium on Saturday.
After a lukewarm first half in which they conceded early, Yadah were a much transformed side in the second half especially following three substitutions in the 55th minute when Mandla Mlilo, Shingai Masukuta and King Nadolo came in for Faranando, Francis Mustafa and Terrence Daka.
They dominated ball possession and hit the woodwork at least twice while their forwards missed on one-on-one situations at least thrice while Highlanders sealed victory against the run of play.
It was Yadah’s first defeat at the Heart Stadium this season after keeping clean sheets against Chicken Inn (0-0) and Kwekwe United (3-0) in their previous matches.
Yadah had gone into the match buoyed by the 2-1 win at Ngezi Platinum in their previous match but came crashing down on Saturday.
“We had a terrible first half. We didn’t play well in the first half; we were very late in every duel. We spoke about it at the interval, and we were a little bit better in the second half. With a bit of luck, we could have scored two or three goals,” said Masocha.
He said their halftime talk brought about the improvement in the second half.
“We told them that we had to fight for a result until the final whistle. There were plenty of positives in the game, especially in the second half after the victors dominated the first half and we were better in the second half.”
On the missed opportunities, Masocha said:
“It is not pleasing to miss chances like that especially when you are chasing the game. We were supposed to just finish but if you look at it maybe lady luck was not on our side and that is why we could not score.
“We need to sit down and relook at the chances we got and did not score and then take it from them. We need to do better,” said.
