Yadah Stars striker Jerry Chipangura says they cannot afford to lose against former Castle Lager Premier Soccer League leaders Highlanders at Barbourfields on Sunday.
The relegation threatened Yadah on Tuesday wrote to the PSL seeking to have the match played at a neutral venue or before an empty stadium if authorities insisted on Barbourfields. Yadah need maximum points to stay above the drop zone while Highlanders desperately need to stop a losing run.
Highlanders have lost to FC Platinum and Chicken Inn with a 0-2 similar score line. Also in their last encounter against Dynamos, they were trailing 0-2 when the match was abandoned due to rogue Highlanders fans who invaded the pitch.
Yadah have already written to PSL requesting for the match to be played at a neutral venue amid the violence that occurred last week. Chipangura said they will not be focusing on how badly Bosso have been playing but are only focused on collecting maximum points. “We are not supposed to lose this game because of the position we are in. Our position isn’t safe and if it doesn’t go our way we at least would like to settle for a draw.
“At this stage, every point is important for us and maybe it can take us across the line, so we are out there to look out for a draw if we fail to record a win.
“Going into this match there are a lot of subplots to this game, especially the losing streak that have hit Bosso.
“For us we can’t focus on them and how they have been playing. We are focusing on ourselves as we are the ones who need maximum points for us to move out of the drop zone. “Our win against Cranborne came at the right time. The win boosted our confidence ahead of the next match against Bosso and we are daring to keep the momentum.
“I understand scoring goals is what I am expected to do when I am a striker and I would also like to score against Bosso which I am sure will help the team to survive relegation,” he said.
