MATABELELAND North sports and recreation officer Newman Masuku has affirmed the provincea��s preparedness to hold the Youth Education through Sport (YES) Games from December 9-13 in Hwange.
Masuku said the Local Organising Committee ( LOC) was holding meetings after touring the games venues in the coal mining town.
a�?We are currently engaging in LOC meetings meant to get feedback on last weeka��s tour of the gamesa�� venues. With the help of our sub committees, we are also into budget finalisation. Our budget stands at $100 000 and as a province we are ready to host,a�? said Masuku.
He added that on Friday next week they would hold a press conference that would help them inform their sister provinces on the progress made so far.
The gamesa�� revenue base is hinged on affiliation fees to be paid by each participating province, and a Government grant which is yet to be availed and on other resources that the LOC will mobilise. The eventa��s LOC toured venues that include Coalfields, Lwendulu Old Ground, Thomas Coulter and Megawatt and Lwendulu primary schools.
Matabeleland North Provincial Affairs Minister Cain Mathema is the games patron and he is expected to grace next weeka��s press conference together with business people largely from Hwange.
