Everyone everywhere is now in the festive mood; as you go around town, various companies, homes and churches are lit up with decorations and colourful lights.
You will not need to be told that its Christmas time. You just know it. It is here – it’s a time of giving selflessly, sharing and lots of laughter.
Christian or no Christian Jesus’ birthday is celebrated world over.
Have you ever pondered on the significance of Christmas? What really are we celebrating?
Does Christmas mean lots of food, clothes or time to travel? What is on the mind of God as we celebrate Christmas? God’s mind is God’s Word. As much as it is commendable to be merry and visit family and friends, we must not lose focus on the reason for which Christ came.
The Bible says in John 10 verse 10 (Amplified Version) “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have (and) enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” This was His purpose on earth – to give you and me life, abundant life. . . His own kind of life. This life is ‘Zoe’; meaning the God-life, indestructible and imperishable.
In the mind of God whoever believes in Jesus and accept Him as his/ her Lord and Saviour receives this life (Zoe). (Acts 4 vs 12: King James Version) says “…neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. . .”
Once one believes that God raised Jesus from the dead and “…declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10 vs 9).
Faith is all it takes for one to enjoy this God-kind of life. Hebrews 11 vs 6 states that “. . . without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Your faith is your key. Celebrate this Christmas with the consciousness that Jesus came because of you. . . because you were priceless. Celebrate His life in you. . . He has made you a victor, more than a conqueror, the seed of Abraham and above all He gave you His own life.
You are indeed the reason for the season!
