A BULAWAYO young female mover on network marketing is out to groom people to gain entrepreneurship skills and to be financially independent.
Twenty three-year-old Salome Isa is a young entrepreneur who is a living testimony that even young people can make it in business. For her the idea of network marketing was birthed to her in June 2018 after she had a conversation with her aunt after which she grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
Ms Isa said she was not born a networking marketer, but with the love and support she got from her family she managed to break the ice and made her way to the top.
“I had no idea what I was getting myself into or any requisites for success but as a firm believer in God coupled by supportive parents I took the plunge, learnt about business and I knew I would succeed. Living in the shadows of my family and a few colleagues was not easy as I came across different challenges which made me stronger each day. I resolved to meet new business partners everyday which slowly became a motto that turned into a reality,” said Ms Isa.
“For four months I struggled as no one was willing to join my camp. I felt like my ship was sinking but reality dawned on me after realising that my circle was too small and bombarding people with sermons was not working.
“I would chase people in parking lots and attack them with my network marketing sermons which were not working. I resorted into writing mini bullets and distributing them to potential business partners. I also made it a point that I carry my business card(s) as well and my earnest vision for a brighter future impelled daily, so is my contact list which is expanding and taking me places,” she said.
She is now studying towards a BSc degree in Operation Research and Statistics at the National University of Science and Technology and she believes that her career path will not only make her a great researcher but will determine her as a successful entrepreneur in the near future.
“I urge especially young people to seize every opportunity they are given and utilise those opportunities because all you need is a jump-start. If a chance presents itself do not be too pessimistic and cower in the shadows but be adventurous, take risks and be open to new ideas and business ventures.
