Tinashe Magacha, young brother to gospel musician Sebastian, says his debut gospel album that was done in dancehall style aims to spread the word of God to young people.
Magacha recently released the seven-track gospel-dancehall album titled “Minana kuti Zvityise” that is pregnant with a strong message laced with dancehall beats.

“I am ecstatic to have released my own album now which is a sign of maturity. I took my time working on this project and I believe many youths are going to like it,” he said. The title track “Weminana” is a praise song referring to God of miracles and wonders.

Other tracks on the album include “Takaipa Takaipa”, “Mwari waBaba”, “Staira”, “Wangu”, “Pemberai” and “Happy Birthday”. Magacha said venturing into music is more of a calling rather than trailing in his big brother’s footsteps.

Though his brother is his source of his inspiration, the young star said he seeks to take gospel music to greater heights. “Music has always been my passion from childhood and for the past few years l have been working as a backing vocalist in my brother’s band.

“My type of gospel music is different from his and this gift of singing is a family talent since our parents lead in church praise and worship teams,” he said.

Tinashe said he chose dancehall because he loves the genre which has also become popular with many young people.

“My lyrical content is entirely Christian even though l use dancehall beat. To win more souls to the kingdom of God l chose to produce music with a beat that the youths like. Personally before I  gave my life to Christ l liked dancehall music a lot so it is one of the reasons l chose the genre and I am doing it for my God,” he said.

Tinashe started off as started a dancer, and then became a drummer before taking to the microphone in 2009. He is the last born in a family of four.
