Young Mighty Warriors go hunting

Speaking at a send-off ceremony for the team in Harare, Dube said judging from the team’s first leg performance, the Young Mighty Warriors are poised to finish off their opponents but warned them against complacency.
Zimbabwe carry a healthy 4-0 lead from the first leg victory at Rufaro.
The Young Mighty Warriors left for Mozambique yesterday afternoon.
“I was pleased with the girls. Unfortunately, I was out of the country when you demolished Mozambique but I am sure from what I saw on the video you are going to do even better in their own backyard.
“Don’t underestimate them because you won here. Don’t go with a complacent attitude, go there and say we want to win.
“As Zifa we will give you our full support when you go to Mozambique,” said Dube.
The Zifa boss paid gratitude to Marange Resources for coming on board to support women’s football.
“We are very pleased that you have come on board supporting your own,” said Dube.
“With what you have done, other sponsors will come on board especially in women’s soccer because it’s clean.
“On behalf of Zifa and the football fraternity we would want to extend our deepest gratitude for this gesture you have made.”
Marange Resources’ human resources executive Elimon Shumba, said they were also confident the team will win in Mozambique.
“We are delighted to be part of this and we say go to Mozambique and, being Zimbabwean women, you are known to be tough fighters.
“Not only tough fighters but clean and disciplined fighters.
“We know as Zimbabwean women you will do us proud and we hope you are going to win,” said Shumba.
Young Mighty Warriors’ assistant coach, Sithethelelwe “Kwinji 15” Sibanda, said:
“Training has been fine. We are taking this game as a new game and really there is no room for complacency.
“We are going there to attack,” said Sibanda.
Team captain Eunice Chibanda was bubbling with confidence as she predicted a 5-0 win against their opponents come Saturday.
The Zifa president also said they will not be intimidated with anyone to stop investigations into the Asiagate scandal.
“We are not going to stop until we clean up soccer. You can kill the messenger but can’t kill the message.
“We are not going to stop in our investigations, we are going to see a conclusion to the scandal.
“As for me personally, I am not afraid of anything, we will get to the bottom of it.
“It’s such a shame that our players were involved in this.
“I am very pleased that the rot did not get into women soccer and this scandal happened when there was no women soccer,” said Dube.
