Young stars put on great Milan show: WWS

Milan Camp early this month for a good show in Italy.
The three – Simon Solobala (10) of Chamisa United FC, Anesu Fensi (13) of Domboramwari High and Marwin Mudzuka (14) of Sisa Academy took part in a camp held from November 4 to 7. The players were selected by Italian scout and AC Milan Junior Programme technical director, Fabrizio Bobbiesi, in August at Churchill High School. The three had an opportunity to play with children selected from all over the world in their age groups in a four-day camp.

Speaking at a Press conference at the WWS offices in the capital yesterday, Maraire said the trip was a success as the players proved they deserved to be in Italy.
“The trip was very successful, our children did exceptionally well. They were invited to play in the AC Milan Continental Cup next year in July in the US. Simon was selected as the captain for his team and was voted the most valuable player in his age group. Whenever you are chosen as a captain it shows you are a leader. It was an amazing accomplishment for the kid.

“The coaches and scouts in Italy said he has an understanding of the game they have never seen from such a young player. All kids had a great attitude, they were all on the list in terms of the AC Milan elite level. It was an incredible event,” said Maraire.

Maraire said they will continue to monitor the players to ensure that their efforts are not put to waste.
“We are tackling a number of things and put in place a training schedule. There is a lot of pressure on us because when you get such talent at this age you make sure it’s not put to waste.

“This is just a moment but there is so much more to be done because we believe they have their future in soccer,” said Maraire.
Solobala said it was a great experience to be part of the young players selected from across the world for the camp.

“I am happy for getting this opportunity to play at AC Milan. I managed to score eight goals in three games and I thank God for taking me through.
“We had a chance to play with other players from Colombia and Brazil,” said Solobala.

His colleagues, Fensi and Mudzuka, said they hope to continue playing football and become better players in the future.
