Young Warriors go into camp

THE Young Warriors will go into camp today ahead of their trip to Morocco for an international friendly in Agadir on Saturday. Patrick Mutesva, the national Under-23 team manager, said the local players are expected to have a single training session tomorrow.

The team will then leave for Morocco tomorrow.

“We will meet with the local players at zifa tomorrow (today) at 5pm and we will have a single training in the morning,” Mutesva said.

“Zimbabwean officials and local players will leave aboard an Emirates airline on Thursday (tomorrow) night via Dubai before we connect to Casablanca.

“Kuda Mahachi (who is based in South Africa) will go via Qatar, Doha, and is expected in Morocco on Thursday.

“Europe-based players like Marvelous Nakamba, Munyaradzi Mbanje, David Moyo and Macauley Bonne will need about two hours to travel so they will connect directly to Morocco.”

Mutesva said the technical team was trying several combinations as they were on a rebuilding exercise.

“This is a rebuilding exercise, the coach is trying to give everyone a chance to prove themselves,” said Mutesva.

“The players who were selected to play Botswana are not the same as those who took part in Swaziland so it is a matter of trying combinations.

“All the players have confirmed their availability and we have already sent air tickets for those based abroad.”
