MANICALAND continues to face a disproportionate burden of HIV, with young women emerging as the most vulnerable group, according to a report presented by the National AIDS Council (NAC) at the recent Provincial Development Committee (PDC) meeting.
Presenting the findings, NAC’s Manicaland monitoring and evaluation officer, Mr Simba Maquina, revealed that of the province’s seven districts, it is Mutare, Makoni and Chipinge who carry the heaviest HIV burden due to higher population densities.
“The data shows us that these districts are most affected and this means we must prioritise them in the allocation of care and treatment services,” said Mr Maquina.
