THE Ministry of Education has banned Youth Contact Center from operating as an educational center with immediate effect and students are being advised to look for new schools for the coming term.
The Youth Contact Centre has been operating illegally as an educational center and hence the teachers and students have been allowed to finish this educational term ending in August.
In an interview, the director of the centre, Josh Nyapimbi confirmed that they will be going back to providing income generating projects and life skills. He said they were working on regularising the school with the Ministry of Education.
“The board has been instructed to regularise with the ministry and I am sure they have started the talks. At the moment we are mobilisng funds towards our agricultural projects and in due course we will be providing donations to other institutions like we used to as a social welfare organisation,” he said.
Despite a few hiccups with some members of staff at the center, Nyapimbi said they have resolved the issues that they had and have agreed to the termination of their contracts.
“It is true that we had misunderstandings with some members of staff but we have since talked about it and they have agreed to end their contracts. We will look into their contracts once we have sorted our issues with the ministry,” he said.
Nyapimbi said parents have been given ample time to look for new schools for their children. He said they will assist those who are having trouble with finding new schools for their children.
“We are very sorry about the developments but there is nothing we can do. As of now we urge parents to start looking for new schools. We have offered assistance to any of the parents who may have problems with transfers,” he said.
The Youth Contact Centre’s objectives are to promote and provide social welfare to the needy, promote and provide recreational and sporting activities as well as promoting communications and good relationships between all sections of the community.
