A CHINHOYI University graduate continues to soar high and has stepped a gear up by designing fabulous unique outfits with a blend of traditional fabric and English ones for all occasions.
The immaculate and creative Deo-Linda Jani, a holder of BSc Hon Clothing and Design, last Friday hosted a Contemporary African Fashion show which saw nine beauties showcasing her different outfits, from bridal dresses to jump suits at Courtauld Theatre.
The 24-year-old designer launched her fashion brand Dee’Xclusive Fashionstar in May this year and has, since then, never looked back in her quest for glory.
In an interview, Jani paid tribute to her family and friends for making the show a success as well as fashion enthusiasts for popularizing her brand.
She, however, bemoaned the lack of support.
“The fashion industry is being crippled by lack of support. Fashion is trendy and it is something that we live with everyday but people don’t support fashion initiatives like these. We need support.
“We need sponsorship to explore latest trends in the clothing industry. I am however happy with the turnout and it was amazing how people appreciated my unique designs. It is a new thing to me (mixing English and traditional fabrics), but I am happy that it fared well,” said Jani.
The Dangamvura-born designer said she managed to come up with aesthetics, colour, texture, fabric mixture all in one design.
Jani attended her primary and secondary school in Dangamvura and later obtained Advanced Level education at St Dominic’s before she pursued her dream at Chinhoyi University. She sees herself a “great” fashion designer in the near future.
“I appreciate beautiful things. I am ready to learn new things in this industry and I hope to take my dream to another level. I am already preparing for Miss Valentine’s special and people should look forward to seeing new innovations next year,” she added.
