Youths urged to revive Bulawayo industry

Addressing the youth in Bulawayo last week, Minister Kasukuwere said the Government was committed to support young entrepreneurs in the country who had viable business proposals to ensure that Bulawayo would not totally die.
“Bulawayo cannot die because you are there.
“Factories are closing, but those factories that were closed were built by young people like you.
“As the Ministry of Youth and Government we have said if the white people could do it why can’t you do it as well?
“We are going to support you,” said Minister Kasukuwere.
The minister, who is also a member of the Bulawayo Revival Taskforce, reiterated that the onus was upon the people of Bulawayo to revive the closed companies.
“We want to see Bulawayo coming back on its feet and that requires you and I so let’s be committed. The facilities are here,” he said.
The Government introduced the Distressed Industries and Marginalised Areas Fund to bail out the industry but many companies failed to access it due to the stringent requirements by the banks administering the funds.
Minister Kasukuwere also challenged the Bulawayo city fathers to provide land for those who want to start factories.
“The city council and everyone else should work hard to ensure that we make Bulawayo the giant that it was yesterday,” he said.
Minister Kasukuwere said the bureaucracy that people face when they intend to start businesses should be reduced at all costs.
