THIS simple recipe shows you how to make sweet potato (mbambaira) chips at home with brilliant results. It highlights how you can make fries that are crispy yet soft inside.
The chips, when fried properly, will taste extremely good. Here we go.
Ingredients
Three large sweet potatoes, cleaned, peeled and diced into strips;
Salt;
Cooking oil;
A dash of cinnamon and a variety of spices (chicken BBQ, paprika, turmeric et cetera), as per required taste
Directions
- Put oil in a frying pan or pot, and place it on the stove at medium heat.
- Once hot enough, get the sweet potatoes out of water and dry them a bit.
At this moment, you can throw away the water you will have dipped the sweet potatoes in.
- Introduce the nicely cut sweet potatoes into the heated oil and fry until golden brown.
- Once they are done, take them out of the oil and allow the excess fat to drain.
Cook’s note: This recipe can serve two or three people. The dish is ideal for breakfast or as a standalone meal at any time of the day.
