The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa ) has appointed Yvonne Mapika Manwa as its substantive General Secretary, marking a significant leadership development for the country’s football governing body.
The appointment, announced on Wednesday, follows a competitive recruitment and interview process and sees Mapika Manwa return to a position she previously held between 2023 and 2025.
Her return comes at a crucial time for Zimbabwean football as Zifa continues its efforts to strengthen governance, improve administration, and drive the development of the game across the country.
In a statement, Zifa said the appointment represents “an important step” in advancing the association’s strategic vision for the growth and transformation of football in Zimbabwe.
Mapika Manwa brings extensive experience in football administration and governance, having overseen key administrative functions during her previous tenure. Her familiarity with the organisation is expected to provide continuity as the Association pursues its long-term objectives.
The Zifa Executive Committee congratulated Mapika Manwa on her appointment and expressed confidence in her ability to lead the Association’s secretariat.
The association also paid tribute to Norman Gwangwadza, who has been serving as Acting General Secretary, thanking him for his service and contribution during the transition period.
Mapika Manwa now assumes responsibility for the day-to-day administration of Zimbabwean football at a time when stakeholders are looking for stability, effective governance, and continued progress in both domestic and international football.
Her appointment is expected to be welcomed across the football fraternity as ZIFA seeks to build momentum in implementing its strategic programmes and strengthening confidence among clubs, players, sponsors, and supporters.
