SOUTH AFRICAN songbird, Bulelwa Mtukuthana aka Zahara is set to headline the “All Female Affair” gig aimed at raising environmental awareness and funds for the Tokwe-Murkosi flood victims. The show, dubbed the Green Concert, will see the multi award winning Zahara sharing the stage with Zimbabwe’s divas namely Sandra Ndebele, Cynthia Mare and Diana Samkange at the Bulawayo Amphitheatre on May 10.
Green Concert goodwill ambassador Derrick Mpofu said the show, to be held under the theme “Remembering Tokwe Mukosi: One Environmental Family”, is mainly focused on raising environmental awareness through music.
“This year we are using the Green Concerts to highlight the effect of floods on the Tokwe-Murkosi people.
“We have invited Zahara and our local artistes to raise funds as well as concientising society on the need for environmental conservation,” he said.
“We are encouraging the people of Bulawayo to come and donate clothes, blankets and foodstuffs for the Tokwe-Murkosi people during our show and the corporate sector as well”.
Mpofu said some of his major duties as the goodwill ambassador were to preach the gospel of water and environmental conservation and zero tolerance on littering.
Some of the proceeds from the Bulawayo concert will be donated to Tsholotsho victims.
The Loliwe hit-maker is expected in the country on May 7 and is set to participate in a clean up campaign and perform in Harare before her performance in Bulawayo.
