Black Coffee show hangs in balance

UNCERTAINTY hangs over the Black Coffee show set for Saturday at Horizon Pub and Grill in Bulawayo as the South African house DJ has not advertised it on his official Facebook page. This comes after last year’s botched December show in which Black Coffee, real name Nkosinathi Maphumulo, failed to turn up for a show in the city only to apologise on Facebook and promise to make up for the mishap.

The much awaited DJ Black Coffee show on Unity Day last year did not take place as the DJ was in no show claiming he missed his flight into the country from Bloemfontein, South Africa.

On Black Coffee’s Facebook page, the Durban-born DJ has advertised gigs in his home country and internationally but the Bulawayo gig is missing, raising fears he might again not turn up.

As from the beginning of the Easter holiday, Black Coffee gave a schedule of dates and venues of where he will be performing in South Africa and other places.

However, Mduduzi Mdlongwa of 3D Events, organisers of the event, said they were working overtime to make the show a success.
“We are working flat out to organise the show so that people have a great time. We have spoken to Black Coffee’s manager Amaru who assured us that they will come,” he said.

Last week when posters were put up for his show on the streets of Bulawayo, fans were glad that Black Coffee would at long last fulfil his promise of playing in the city.

Some fans started checking his Facebook page, where he apologised for standing them up last year, to see if he had advertised the show.
However, it is now two days before the show and there has been nothing from Black Coffee on social media to indicate that he is coming for the show.

Fears of the December fiasco are now creeping into fans’ minds and only Black Coffee can allay their fears.
