THE pole position in the Zifa Matabeleland North league is changing hands every week after a fired up Zambezi Lions roared to the apex with a 4-0 mauling of hapless Amagagasi U-19 at Chinotimba Stadium over the weekend.

The heroes for Lions were Fredrick Nyoni, Hosia Ndebele, Emediator Mabhena, and Zimisozenkosi Mbuyazwe who took turns to hit the target for the unbeaten side.

Second placed army side Moto Moto’s fine run was jolted by Vic Falls Tigers who forced a share of the spoils in a goalless draw at Sports Pavilion ground.

Fourth placed Makwika United continued with their impressive run in the league by silencing Lukosi Pirates in front of their home crowd with a 2-0 victory courtesy of goals by Given Nyambe and Michael Munenge.

At Lwendulu Old ground, Hwange U-17 and Prison Eagles played out a thrilling 2-2 draw with Icky Nyoni and Tonderai Chivandire scoring for Hwange FC’s developmental side while a double from Kudakwashe Tichagwa ensured the warders went back to their complex with a precious point.

In another match, Classic Luyando shared the spoils in a nil all draw against Hwange outfit Kamandama Celtics at Chinotimba Stadium.

Ingagula thrashed Lwendulu based Iwisa 4-0 at Ingagula Stadium with prolific goal getter Wayne Shumba getting all the four goals.

The match against pitting ZRP Hwange against Baobab Rovers was postponed due to national duty commitments by the policemen while league anchors Blackrock had a bye which should have given the troubled Tichaona Mfandaedza side time to regroup and stop the rot as they have so far been the league’s whipping boys with no win or a draw from four games.
