In a newsletter, the founding trustee and tournament director Micheal Mahachi revealed that the launch will be on tomorrow.
“The Zambezi Tour will be formally launched next Thursday 11th August at Chapman (18:00hrs).
“This note is a formal invitation to you to join the team set up to run professional golf on the occasion of the Tour’s birth. The Tour official commercial partner will also be unveiled on the day.
“The launch will follow the Open Classic Tournament to be played at the same venue,” Mahachi said.
The Zambezi Tour has Celestine Gadzikwa as the chairman, Willard Zireva vice-chairman while the other members are Kevin Stead, Paulo Moyo and Addington Chinake.
Cedric Yonker is the operations manager with Mahachi come in as the founding trustee and tournament director.
The tour is registered with the Sports Commission and is aimed at creating opportunities for professional golfers.
Meanwhile, the second tournament on the tour calendar will tee off tomorrow at Chapman.
The tournament is likely to draw several professional golfers who will be in action just a few weeks after the first edition of the NetOne Series.
Tongoona Charamba will, as usual, be the one to beat after missing out the Bulawayo event by a single shot.
Charamba, who won the Open Classic at Royal Harare last year, will be hoping for better tidings.
The golfer will face stiff competition from seasoned campaigners like Ignatius Mketekete.
Mketekete won the NetOne series and will go into the tournament high on confidence.
Robson Saurombe, Phillip Tshuma, Lyford Yadyo, and Brian Gondo are expected to make an impression.
