Orlando Pirates yesterday hinted that they had concluded a deal for 20-year-old Zambian striker Justin Shonga.
Mamelodi Sundowns were reportedly interested in the marksman, but nothing materialised. Pirates, though, appear to have snatched him as a replacement for Tendai Ndoro, who moved to Saudi Arabia club Al Faisaly.
a?If you go to training (today), thereas a new player. I will just give you the first name; itas Justin. He’s joining the coach and if he adjusts, he will play at the weekend (against Polokwane City). I wonat give you the surname, so itas for you to go to training,a? Bucs boss Irvin Khoza said yesterday.
Itas not clear how Pirates managed to sign the Nkwazi striker outside the transfer window, but they are expected to reveal more today.
Zambia Police director of sport Adrian Kashala has reportedly confirmed that Shonga is in South Africa, but like Khoza, was playing his cards close to his chest. Shonga has been establishing himself in the Zambian national team.
It was his brace that ensured a 2-0 win over Bafana Bafana last month to qualify for the 2018 Caf African Nations Championship tournament. – The Sun .
