Zamfi to launch IT project for Micro-finance sector

Technologies, will soon launch an Information Technology (IT) project.
The project is designed to provide a comprehensive range of IT solutions for banking and financial services for Micro-Finance Institutions (MFIs). It also involves door step and mobile banking using hand held devices.

Zamfi vice chairperson Virginia Sibanda said the technologies would transform the micro finance sector in Zimbabwe with innovative solutions.
“The project will reduce transactional costs in terms of paperwork yet increasing business volumes,” she said.
Speaking at the same occasion, Encore Theme Technologies chief operating officer Sukirat Singh Kochar said the project was targeted at MFIs who are ambitious to leverage their operations on new generation technologies.

“Zimbabwe is the host that we have chosen and if the project is a success, we will expand into the Sadc region.
“With this project, Zimbabwe will also have an experience on how hand held devices are being used to drive operational efficiencies for MFIs,” said Kochar. Currently Encore Theme Technologies has established the same project in United Arab Emirates (UAE), India, Kenya and Nigeria.

The group specialises in implementation and professional services, consulting, enterprise application architecture (EAI) and offshore development. – New Ziana.
