OVER 100 people, including those living with disabilities and the elderly in Chegutu, on Saturday received food, blankets and second-hand clothes from Zanu PF affiliate, National Organisation for Development and Empowerment (NODE).

The donation is part of the affiliate’s contribution towards nation-building as espoused by President Mnangagwa.

NODE is made up of young entrepreneurs, artisanal and small-scale miners. Its national president, Cde Office Blant, said through their various income-generating projects, which they started as a result of the Second Republic and President Mnangagwa’s leadership, the group was paying back to the community.

“We are beneficiaries of President Mnangagwa’s leadership and, we have made it a point that we raise whatever we can to support those with disabilities and the elderly in our communities,” he said.

Two weeks ago, the NODE also donated to the disadvantaged community of Norton.

The two communities also received mine claims handed over by NODE executive member, Cde Guy Musviki, a local small-scale miner in Chegutu.

Beneficiaries lauded the group’s gesture, saying it goes a long way in their day-to-day lives. Ms Clara Tarakinyu, who takes care of her brother’s disabled child, said that due to the child’s condition, she is unable to work to support the family.

Gogo Concilia Motsi said the donated items were going to make life easy for her and her grandchildren, who were orphaned.

The handover ceremony also gave an opportunity to several opposition party returnees, including former MDC and CCC founding member, Gift Konjana, who said President Mnangagwa was transforming Zimbabwe into an upper-middle income economy by 2030.
