The ruling party ZANU PF is ramping up its campaign for the Chikomba Ward 10 by-election, set for July 26.

Cde Tafadzwa Mukandi will represent ZANU PF in the elections after winning the party primary elections held on June 23.

Thousands of party supporters gathered in Ward 10, Chikomba West Constituency today as it continues to mobilise support ahead of the elections.

Addressing the large crowd, Chikomba West legislator Cde Tatenda Mavetera called for unity in Ward 10.

“ZANU PF is a people’s party, it has the people at heart. As you know, our President is a listening President and loves people, this is why you see a lot of infrastructure development here in Chikomba,” she said.

“I urge you, the cadres of ZANU PF in Ward 10 to vote for the ruling party in these by-elections. Let us remain united and mobilise more support for our candidate. A win for our councillor is a win for ZANU PF, it is a win for our President. So let us work hard and ensure we win this seat.”

Zanu PF Chikomba District Coordinating Committee chairperson Cde Vernon Muringani also called for unity and peace ahead of the elections.

“Let us remain united. From what I am seeing today, with the number of participants at this event, we have already won this election,” he said.

“Yes this seat had gone to the opposition during the last general election but we are going to take it back and I am optimistic of that.

“I appeal to you, the people of Ward 10, to vote for Cde Mukandi, our ZANU PF candidate.”
