THE Zanu-PF Greens/City Centre district chairman in Bulawayo, Cde Tendai Charuka, last Friday hosted a party for the disabled and underprivileged to celebrate his 39th birthday.

The party which was held at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre was attended by more than 5 000 people.

Cde Charuka took the opportunity to explain the ruling party programmes meant to empower the disabled and other underprivileged members of the community.

The birthday party’s theme was “Empowering and Celebrating the Underprivileged and Disabled People In Our Communities.”

Cde Charuka said there are many projects that the disabled and underprivileged could venture into with assistance from the party.

“At first I wanted this to be an extravagant event but then I realised that life is not all about flashing and spending.

I then decided to have the disabled and the underprivileged as my special guest so that they benefit from this event,’ said Cde Charuka.

Empowered Disabled Vendors Secretary General, Miss Lydia Phiri said they were happy to have been invited to such a party.

“We are glad that we are now getting recognition from all sectors of society.

We will be undertaking various projects to empower ourselves and we are grateful to people like Cde Charuka for advocating for our empowerment,” said Miss Phiri.
