Zanu-PF candidates urged to work hard

Harare Provincial Affairs Minister Miriam Chikukwa has urged parliamentary candidates to buckle up and work hard to ensure victory for zanu-pf in the June 10 by-elections.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Kuwadzana at the weekend, Cde Chikukwa said zanu-pf candidates must take their assignments seriously and mobilise in all the nooks and crannies of their constituencies.

“Let’s work hard to make sure that we retain all the seats we had lost to MDC,” she said.

Cde Chikukwa also commissioned a borehole in Tynwald which was sunk by Cde Betty Nhambu Kaseke who is representing zanu-pf.

“This is what zanu-pf can do for you,” she said.

“It is a party that has people at heart and is committed to improving access to water for all. We need to win convincingly in all the six constituencies. Let’s all rally behind zanu-pf to ensure victory.”

She warned losing primary election candidates against divisive tendencies.

“We say down with those who are possessed by demons which want to destroy our revolutionary party led by our true leader President Mugabe,” Cde Chikukwa said.

“They should stop dividing the party by splitting votes.”

She also urged candidates to go flat-out to entice people to vote for the party.

“Elections are close, we must campaign vigorously, sensitise the electorate and bring out the votes,” Cde Chikukwa said.

“We must encouraged those who want to join zanu-pf to come freely and benefit from its sound policies.”

In Dzivaresekwa constituency, zanu-pf Politburo member and national deputy political commissar Cde Omega Hungwe urged people to rally behind zanu-pf.

“I want to thank you all for registering to vote. We want you to vote for zanu-pf, so keep your IDs safely to avoid inconveniences on the 10th of June,” she said.

Both Kuwadzana and Dzivaresekwa share boundaries and are represented by women in the forthcoming by-elections.

By-elections are being held to fill the parliamentary seats left vacant following the expulsion of opposition legislators affiliated to the MDC-Renewal faction.
