THE Zanu-PF national coordination committee led by the party’s national chairperson Cde Oppah Muchinguri will be in Esigodini tomorrow to assess progress on the preparations for this year’s Zanu-PF 17th National People’s Conference.

The conference will be held at Mzingwane High School, Esigodini, in Matabeleland South province from December 10 to 15.

In an interview yesterday, the party’s spokesperson, Cde Simon Khaya Moyo said: “The national coordination committee chaired by the national chairperson in preparation for the conference will visit the conference venue on Sunday. Heads of departments will also be part of the delegation.

“The local provincial leadership will give a report on progress on the preparations for the conference and indicate if there are any challenges so that they’re attended to on time,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.

The conference, whose theme is “Zimbabwe is Open for Business: In unity and peace towards an upper middle-income economy by 2030”, is expected to attract 5 300 delegates drawn from the country’s 10 provinces.

Two weeks ago, the party’s secretary for finance Cde Patrick Chinamasa led a delegation on a tour of the venue and expressed satisfaction with the progress made saying the host province, Matabeleland South had availed 78 head of cattle for the event.

All the provinces have been tasked by the party to contribute $50 000, five cattle and five tonnes of maize.

Cde Chinamasa urged provinces to make sure they submit their resolutions on time. — @pamelashumba1
