LOSING Zanu-PF candidate Cde Misheck Mugadza has accepted defeat in Monday’s elections saying he would serve Mutasa South constituency in other capacities. A renowned lawyer, Cde Mugadza took to Facebook to congratulate Mr Regai Tsunga of MDC Alliance who won the elections.
“Congrats mukoma Regai, l accept defeat and wish you the best. Will continue to serve our peace-loving people of Mutasa South in other capacities with all my heart,” said Cde Mugadza.
Cde Mugadza’s post was in response to a post by Mr Tsunga post on his Facebook wall that read: “Duly elected Member of the House of Assembly – Mutasa South constituency. Thanks to all who took part in the campaign.”
In an interview with The Herald, Cde Mugadza said the elections were free and fair and those who lost in the elections should accept defeat.
He said there was need for tolerance saying Mr Tsunga’s party members should also learn to accept the results of elections conducted in a free and fair manner.
“I took to Facebook to congratulate him and I was trying to show what others should do as opposed to what other people from MDC are doing,” he said.
Mr Mugadza said people should accept election results so that the country moves forward.
The MDC Alliance’s newly elected MP said his first task was to bring together all stakeholders to tackle problems bedevilling his constituency.
“We look forward to working with all stakeholders in the constituency so that we can develop together. We believe in oneness of purpose and tolerance so that we are able to work together to bring about development. We have a common agenda to develop our province and our country,” he said.
