Zanu PF congratulates Venezuela’s re-elected President Maduro

ZANU PF has sent a congratulatory message to the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) following the re-election of President Nicolas Maduro in general elections held last Sunday.

President Maduro garnered 51,21 percent of the vote to win a third consecutive term as Venezuelan leader.

In a statement, ZANU PF Secretary-General Dr Obert Mpofu reiterated the ruling party’s support for Venezuala under the leadership of President Maduro.

“On behalf of the revolutionary Zimbabwe African National Union Patriotic Front (ZANU PF) party, I present our heartfelt congratulations to our brother, Nicolas Maduro, and the people of PSUV on his re-election as President of Venezuela. Cde Maduro worked hard for Venezuela’s economic development and uplifted communities out of poverty,” said Dr Mpofu.

Venezuela and Zimbabwe, he said, are presently working towards strengthening bilateral economic ties. Two months ago, the Zimbabwe-Venezuela Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation convened in Caracas to identify potential areas for collaboration. Added Dr Mpofu: “ZANU PF stands resolute in support of PSUV under the leadership of President Maduro.

“We wish our brothers and sisters of Venezuela peace and harmony as they continue to defend their country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

“We strongly stand with President Maduro as leader of a country which holds the world’s largest proven crude reserves and the world’s highest exporter of oil for the benefit of the people of Venezuela.”
