Mashonaland East provincial leaders yesterday visited the family of Tapiwa Makore (7) in Murehwa, to console them following his alleged murder by his uncle and his employee.

Zanu PF provincial chairman Cde Joel Biggie Matiza and Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs Minister Senator Aplonia Munzverengwi, who visited the family in the company of other officials, said the murder was regrettable.

Cde Matiza said Tapiwa’s passing on was a loss to the whole nation.

Cde Matiza thanked local MPs who have been supporting the family with food during the funeral.

Sen Munzverengwi said the law should take its course and if convicted, the culprits should be given a punishment that will act as a deterrent to potential perpetrators.

Family spokesperson Mr Michael Mavhura, who is also the village head, thanked the party for its support.

“We have never come across this kind of situation and most children are now afraid to go to the garden alone or to fetch water, because of this incident,” he said.

Zanu PF handed one tonne of maize meal for the funeral, while Doves Funeral Assurance Company offered to assist with the burial.
