Zanu PF expels Loice Chenjerai

ZANU PF has expelled former Mashonaland Central provincial youth secretary for Environment, Cde Loice Chenjerai, with immediate effect after the party’s National Disciplinary Committee (NDC) found her guilty of violating the party constitution.

The decision is contained in a July 14, 2026 notice from Zanu PF Headquarters, in which Secretary General Advocate Jacob Mudenda confirmed that the Politburo, at its 393rd Ordinary Session held on May 27, 2026, had upheld the ruling.

The NDC found Cde Chenjerai guilty of contravening Article 37, Section 549 (1), (4), (6), (10) and (16) of the 2022 Zanu PF Constitution, arising from the circulation of divisive, inflammatory and abusive audio messages.

Following the Politburo’s endorsement, she was expelled in terms of Article 36, Section 523(6) of the party constitution.

The decision was also communicated to the Mashonaland Central Provincial Coordinating Committee in Bindura, formally bringing the matter before provincial structures.

The disciplinary action forms part of a wider set of rulings affecting several party members in Mashonaland Central who appeared before the NDC.

In one of the related cases, Cde Tafadzwa Musarara, former chairperson of the Mazowe District Coordinating Committee, was removed from all party positions, including his role as DCC chairperson, with immediate effect.

The HQ notice states that the Politburo upheld findings that he had contravened Article 13, Section 159(2), Section 152 and Section 156, as well as Article 38, Section 550(10) of the 2022 Constitution. He, however, retains his status as an ordinary card-carrying member.

His matter remains subject to further internal review, with the Secretary General directing the National Political Commissar, Cde M. Machacha, to convene the Conflict Management and Resolution Committee to examine the case, including reported personal differences, and submit recommendations ahead of the next Politburo meeting.

Cde Five Zachariah was also removed from all party positions, including his role as Provincial Secretary for Finance in the Muzarabani DCC, after being found guilty of contravening Article 38, Section 550(10). He also retains ordinary membership rights.

Cde Tapera Saizi, Secretary for Health, Child Welfare and the Elderly in the Muzarabani DCC, received an oral reprimand after being found guilty of contravening Article 38, Section 550(10) and Article 37, Section 549(15). He was cautioned against future conduct inconsistent with party rules and regulations.

Meanwhile, Cde Novieti Muponora, Provincial Deputy Secretary for Legal Affairs in Muzarabani District, was suspended from holding any party office for three years and removed from his position with immediate effect, while retaining ordinary membership.

Cde Rolson Mutunda, Provincial Secretary for Administration in Muzarabani District, was similarly removed from office and barred from holding any party position for three years, while also retaining his membership status.

The decisions underscore the party’s continued reliance on its disciplinary structures to enforce constitutional compliance, with sanctions ranging from reprimands and removal from office to suspension and expulsion.

In Mashonaland Central, Cde Chenjerai’s expulsion stands as the most severe sanction among the latest rulings, while other cases have resulted in varied disciplinary measures across Mazowe and Muzarabani districts.
