Zanu PF fills Kariba councillor vacancy

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has announced that Gumbo Asheen has been appointed to fill the vacancy left by the late Kariba councillor (women’s quota) and liberation war heroine Cde Sithembiso Tendai Sibanda, also known as Cde Sibhula.Cde Sibhula died in Kariba’s Mahombekombe Township on July 6 after a short illness.

ZEC chief elections officer Mr Utolile Silaigwana announced this today.

“The public is hereby notified, in terms of 39 (7) of the Electoral Act (Chapter 2:13), that Gumbo Asheen, nominated by ZANU PF, has been appointed councillor with effect from publication of this notice to fill the vacancy that occurred following the death of Sibanda Sithembiso Tendai, who was a member of the Municipality of Kariba.”
